Adjective, Adjective Phrase, and Adjective Clause

 



1.    Adjectives and Adjective Phrases

An adjective is a word that describes a noun. Example of adjective to describe perception of five senses.

1. An adjective Phrase is phrase that act as an adjective by describing a noun

a.       Fact adjective give factual information about size, age, color, material, etc

Example; the sky is blue

b.      Opinion adjective tell us what somebody thinks of something or somebody.

Example; the beach is beautiful

2.   Adjective Clause

Adjective clause is a dependent clause that modifies a noun or pronoun. Adjective clauses begin with a relative pronoun (that, who, whom, which, whose) or start with a relative adverb (when, where, and why)

Look at the example below!

 

a    The beach that we visited last week is closed

 

b.    The city where I was born has some beaches
