Tiza Mafira

When I first learned about Tiza Mafira, I was a student trying to understand the growing problem of plastic pollution. I came across a video where she spoke passionately about the harmful impact of single-use plastics, especially plastic bags. Unlike celebrities or politicians, Tiza was a lawyer using her knowledge and voice to fight for the environment. Her calm confidence and clear purpose made me see how one person can truly influence change.

Tiza became known for launching the Plastic Bag Diet (Diet Kantong Plastik) movement in Indonesia, which encouraged people and cities to reduce their use of plastic bags. Her campaign led to significant progress, including plastic bag bans in several major cities. What made her efforts stand out was her approach—she worked not just through legal channels, but also by engaging communities, students, and local leaders. Her journey was not easy, facing opposition from businesses and slow policy changes, but she stayed committed to her cause.

Now, every time I bring a reusable bag or avoid plastic, I remember her example. Tiza Mafira showed that leadership means standing up for what matters, even when it's difficult. She didn’t just fight pollution—she inspired a movement and proved that change can start with one determined voice. For me, she is more than an environmental activist; she is a role model who taught me the power of action.

Nadine Candrawinata

I first saw Nadine Chandrawinata not just as a famous actress and beauty queen, but as a passionate environmentalist during a beach clean-up event. Instead of glitz and glamour, she was there working alongside volunteers, picking up trash and caring for the ocean. Her genuine commitment to protecting nature inspired me deeply, showing that public figures can use their influence for something meaningful.

Nadine’s work goes beyond occasional events. Through her foundation, SeaSoldier, she educates people about ocean conservation, plastic reduction, and the importance of protecting marine life. She visits remote communities, participates in coral reef dives, and raises awareness about climate change and pollution. Her dedication turns her celebrity status into a powerful tool for environmental change.

Inspired by Nadine, I’ve started making small changes in my own life, like refusing plastic bags and joining local clean-ups. She taught me that being an environmentalist doesn’t mean being perfect but taking action whenever and wherever we can. Nadine Chandrawinata’s example shows that anyone can help protect the Earth, one step at a time.

Pandawara Clean Community: Small Actions, Big Change

It all started with five young men who were tired of seeing their local river filled with trash. Instead of complaining, they took action and cleaning it themselves. They called themselves Pandawara, inspired by the Pandava warriors, and shared their clean-up efforts online.

Their videos quickly went viral, and people across Indonesia began to join them. From rivers to beaches, the clean-up sites grew, and so did the movement. What began as a simple act of care became a national inspiration.

Today, Pandawara Clean Community stands for more than cleaning; it stands for hope, responsibility, and the power of small actions to create big change.

legend of Samosir; Lake Toba

Long ago in North Sumatra, there lived a hardworking farmer named Toba. One day, he caught a golden fish that magically turned into a beautiful woman. She revealed that she had been cursed and asked Toba to keep her secret. He must never tell anyone she was once a fish. Toba agreed, and they got married. Soon, they had a son named Samosir.

Years passed, and one day Samosir was asked to bring lunch to his father in the fields. On the way, he got hungry and ate most of it. When he gave the little food left to Toba, his father became angry and shouted, “You are the son of a fish!” Samosir ran home and told his mother, who was heartbroken. Toba had broken his promise.

Suddenly, dark clouds appeared, and heavy rain flooded the village. The woman disappeared, and the water formed what is now called Lake Toba. In the middle of the lake, an island rose now known as Samosir Island. The legend teaches us the importance of keeping promises and respecting others.

The Legend of the Moon and the Sun

Long ago, the Moon and the Sun were brother and sister who lived happily in the sky. Every day, the Sun would shine brightly and warm the earth, while the Moon would light the night with her gentle glow. They worked together perfectly, sharing the sky equally.

One day, the Sun wanted to shine all the time and never let the Moon come out. He became proud and refused to share the sky. This made the Moon very sad, and she decided to leave. The earth became very hot and dry without the Moon’s cool light at night.

Seeing this, the gods were angry and punished the Sun. They told him he must only shine during the day, and the Moon could only appear at night. Since then, the Sun and Moon have taken turns lighting the sky, reminding people that sharing and balance are important.

Why Every School Should Become a Green School?

In today’s world, where environmental issues are growing rapidly, schools play a vital role in shaping students' awareness and responsibility. One of the best ways to instill environmental care is by turning every school into a green school.

Firstly, a green school promotes environmental education. By implementing eco-friendly programs—such as waste separation, recycling, planting trees, and saving energy—students learn the importance of protecting the planet. This practical learning goes beyond textbooks and builds real-life habits that students can carry into adulthood.

Secondly, green schools create a healthier learning environment. Clean air, proper waste management, and green open spaces help reduce pollution and improve students' physical and mental well-being. Research shows that students in greener schools have better concentration and academic performance.

Thirdly, a green school can reduce operational costs in the long run. By using solar panels, energy-efficient lighting, and water-saving systems, schools can significantly cut down on electricity and water bills. These savings can then be redirected to educational resources or student programs.

Therefore, it is strongly recommended that every school adopts green practices and aims to become a green school. This step not only benefits the students and the school community but also contributes to a more sustainable and livable planet. Let us act now—educate for a greener tomorrow.

Join the Movement to Clean Our Environment

Our environment is suffering from increasing pollution, waste, and destruction caused by human activities. If we do not take immediate action, the damage could become irreversible. One of the most effective ways to fight this problem is through a collective movement to clean and protect our environment.

Firstly, pollution especially from plastic waste and harmful chemicals—is destroying our air, land, and water. Littering and dumping waste in rivers, oceans, and on the streets not only harms nature but also threatens human health. By joining cleanup movements, communities can reduce pollution and raise awareness about proper waste management. Secondly, participating in a clean environment movement fosters responsibility and cooperation. When people come together to clean up beaches, parks, streets, or forests, they develop a sense of unity and care for their surroundings. It teaches everyone from children to adults—that protecting the earth is a shared duty. Thirdly, a clean environment improves the quality of life. Clean spaces lead to better air, less disease, and more beautiful places to live. Tourists are more attracted to clean a city, which also helps boost the economy. Most importantly, a clean environment ensures a healthier future for the next generation.

Therefore, I strongly urge everyone to join and support the movement to clean the environment. Whether it's picking up trash, planting trees, reducing plastic use, or educating others on action matters. Together, we can make a big difference. Let’s act now before it’s too late.

The Urgency of Addressing Water Pollution

Water pollution is a serious environmental issue that threatens human health, aquatic life, and the availability of clean water, making immediate and effective action necessary to protect both people and the planet.

Contaminated water is a major cause of disease, particularly in developing countries. Pollutants such as industrial waste, agricultural chemicals, and sewage often find their way into rivers, lakes, and groundwater supplies. When people consume or come into contact with polluted water, they risk contracting diseases like cholera, dysentery, and hepatitis. According to the World Health Organization, unsafe water is responsible for hundreds of thousands of deaths each year. Access to clean water is a basic human right, and water pollution directly violates this right.

Aquatic ecosystems are extremely sensitive to pollution. When harmful substances such as plastic, oil, or chemical waste enter bodies of water, they can disrupt the balance of life. Fish and other aquatic animals may die from toxic exposure or oxygen depletion caused by algae blooms—often the result of excess nutrients like nitrogen and phosphorus. Over time, polluted water bodies can become dead zones where little to no life can survive. This destruction of biodiversity has long-term consequences for ecosystems and the food chain.

In conclusion, water pollution poses significant threats to human health, aquatic life, and the availability of clean water. As populations grow and industrial activities increase, the problem becomes more urgent. It is essential for governments, industries, and individuals to take responsibility by reducing pollution sources and protecting water resources. Clean water is vital to life—and its protection must be a global priority.

The Importance of Managing Forests Wisely

Forests play a crucial role in supporting life on Earth, yet many people underestimate the importance of managing them properly. Forest management is essential not only for environmental balance but also for the well-being of future generations.

First, forests help regulate the climate by absorbing carbon dioxide and releasing oxygen. Poorly managed forests or uncontrolled deforestation contributes to global warming, floods, and soil erosion. By managing forests through reforestation, selective logging, and conservation practices, we can reduce the negative impacts on the environment. Second, forests are home to a wide range of biodiversity. When forests are destroyed without proper planning, countless animal and plant species lose their habitat. Responsible forest management ensures that ecosystems remain stable and that biodiversity is protected for ecological balance and scientific study. Lastly, forests support the economy and human livelihoods. Many people depend on forest resources for timber, medicine, and food. Sustainable forest management ensures that these resources can continue to be used without destroying the forests themselves.

In conclusion, forest management is not a choice. It is a necessity. Without careful planning and sustainable practices, we risk damaging one of the most important natural systems on our planet. Therefore, everyone must support policies and actions that promote responsible forest management.

 Why do we need Fruits?

In a world filled with unhealthy processed foods, it's important to emphasize the value of eating fruits. Fruits are not only tasty and refreshing but also play a vital role in improving our overall health and well-being. In this piece, we will explore the reasons why including fruits in our daily diet is crucial for maintaining a balanced and healthy lifestyle.

Fruits are packed with essential nutrients and vitamins that our bodies need to function properly. They provide dietary fiber, vitamins A, C, and E, potassium, and antioxidants, which offer numerous health benefits. These nutrients boost our immune system, aid digestion, support brain function, improve skin health, and reduce the risk of chronic diseases like heart disease and certain types of cancers.

Many fruits have high water content, making them great for staying hydrated. Proper hydration is important for regulating body functions and maintaining healthy skin. Additionally, the natural sugars and fiber in fruits help with digestion, preventing constipation and promoting regular bowel movements. Eating fruits regularly can contribute to a healthy digestive system and overall well-being.

Fruits are low in calories and high in fiber, making them a smart choice for managing weight. They provide a feeling of fullness while supplying essential nutrients, helping control food cravings and prevent overeating. Moreover, the natural sugars found in fruits provide a healthier alternative to processed sugars, offering a sustainable source of energy for our bodies. Adding fruits to our diet can support healthy weight management and provide a natural energy boost.

Studies consistently show that a diet rich in fruits reduces the risk of chronic diseases. The antioxidants in fruits protect our bodies against oxidative stress and inflammation, which are key factors in diseases like heart disease, diabetes, and age-related conditions. By eating a variety of fruits, we can improve our overall health and potentially increase our lifespan.

In conclusion, eating fruits holds significant importance for our health. Fruits provide essential nutrients, support hydration and digestion, aid in weight management, and help prevent diseases. By incorporating fruits into our daily diet, we nourish our bodies, strengthen our immune system, and enhance our overall well-being. Let's embrace the vibrant colors and flavors of fruits, making them an integral part of our healthy lifestyle for a brighter and healthier future.

The dangerous of instant noodles

Thesis  ;

First, Instant noodles are notorious for their poor nutritional content. They hardly offer any essential nutrients such as vitamins, minerals, protein, and fibre. Instead, they provide a high number of calories, primarily from refined carbohydrates and unhealthy fats, which can be problematic for weight management. If you are consuming instant noodles regularly, they can increase the risk of nutrient deficiencies.

Second, Monosodium glutamate (MSG) is a common additive in these noodles, used to enhance flavour. While the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) recognises MSG as generally safe, there is an ongoing debate about its potential side effects. A study published by the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition suggests that high MSG consumption is associated with weight gain, headaches, nausea, and even high blood pressure. However, some other studies found no link between weight and moderate consumption of MSG.

Third, one of the most alarming side effects is their high sodium content. A single serving can contain over half of the recommended daily intake of sodium. According to the Journal of the American College of Cardiology, excessive sodium intake is linked to organ damage and may cause a range of health issues, including hypertension (high blood pressure), heart disease, and stroke. “For people with existing heart conditions or those prone to high blood pressure, consuming instant noodles regularly can exacerbate these conditions and lead to severe cardiovascular complications,” explains Nutritionist Saloni Arora.
